After the outbreak of the Ebola epidemic, the association Fuer Sierra Leone e. V. supported the St. John of God Catholic Hospital in Lunsar. The aid was provided in coordination with the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in Sierra Leone and the then ambassador of Sierra Leone in Germany, H.E. Jongopie Stevens. On the initiative of a Bavarian medical group, association board member, Dr. Scheiter, had personally visited this hospital in 2013 as honorary consul for Sierra Leone in Bavaria. Since then there has been repeated contact between him and the hospital, which itself is particularly respected in the country. In total, three pallets of urgently needed medical supplies and materials were delivered in autumn 2014 - in addition to further deliveries by the group of Bavarian doctors. The materials were made available by the University of Munich Clinic, Großhadern.
