From Spain to Sierra Leone

Covering more than 5,000 km, Tim Kremer's route will take him across eight West African countries and through the Sahara, the world's largest desert.

Our member Tim Kremer set off on a new extraordinary adventure on October 23, 2025. Some of you may remember his trip across the United States of America – in aid of our association! A great achievement by Tim and a great achievement by the friends and supporters of our association, who donated almost €7,000 to our association for Tim's adventure at the time.

Now he is embarking on a new adventure: again by bicycle – from Cádiz in Spain to Freetown in Sierra Leone!

Tim Kremer has around 5,000 km ahead of him. On his approximately six-week journey, he will travel through Morocco, Mauritania, Western Sahara, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau before arriving – hopefully safely – in Sierra Leone in mid-December. The approximately 1,600 kilometers through the Sahara, the largest dry desert in the world, will certainly be a special challenge. But the heights of the Atlas Mountains will also demand everything Tim has to give. Tim would like to combine this impressive project with a fundraising campaign for our association again: this time to support our FSL Secondary School in Waterloo: " This journey goes beyond physical endurance—it's about giving children the chance to learn, grow, and dream. Every kilometer I ride reminds me that a small effort here in the world can mean a meal, a classroom, or a future elsewhere." At the FSL Secondary School in Waterloo, we give children in the Madamba community access to high-quality education, opening up opportunities for a better future.

The donations from this campaign will be used to meet four key needs at FSL Secondary School in Waterloo for the year 2026:

1.    Internet access for the school for the year 2026

2.    Funding for a teacher, including all associated costs (salary, lunch, and administration, e.g., insurance)

3.    School meals for 20 children for three months

4.    Establishment of a school fund to finance school fees for 60 pupils in particular financial need

Tim's journey will be documented. Anyone interested, all supporters and sponsors can follow his tour up close and get regular updates on his experiences. Via Instagram, LinkedIn, and in the exclusive “private WhatsApp group.” We would be particularly delighted if you shared his journey with others, helping us to reach more people.

You can support the campaign via the donation platform betterplace.org or directly by bank transfer to our donation account, stating the relevant reference. Just €50 covers a child's school fees for a whole year. Every contribution—whether large or small—makes a valuable contribution to the education of children in Sierra Leone.

We wish Tim a safe, successful, and inspiring journey!
